Understanding the Expectations of Modern Spectators

Sports in India are becoming large-scale entertainment experiences, driven by the IPL, ISL, and a new generation of digital-native fans. Spectators now expect more than the game — dining, social spaces, interactive zones, and highly shareable visual moments. At the same time, many stadiums lack international-standard lighting, digital infrastructure, and immersive experiences.

Since 2020, stadium design has shifted toward well-being principles: better ventilation, smarter circulation, safer food handling, and improved lighting quality. IGBC’s new criteria for stadiums emphasise audience comfort, staff safety, and facility health performance.

Government programmes such as the Energy Efficiency Mission and Smart Cities Mission are pushing stadiums to meet higher efficiency standards. But energy demand can spike dramatically on event days, making performance harder to control and costs harder to predict. With ESG reporting growing across corporate sponsors, stadiums must also disclose energy performance and adopt renewable, lower-carbon systems.

Panasonic's advanced lighting, displays, and electrical systems deliver seamless performance and immersive experiences for fans, teams, and broadcast partners.

From ventilation and lighting to access control and fire safety, Panasonic's systems create safer, more comfortable environments across large venues.
